Every approved contribution earns XP, which levels you up through 100 tiers — from Bystander at Level 1 to The One Above All at Level 100. Higher levels unlock faster workflows and community recognition.
How XP Is Earned#
XP is awarded when a moderator approves your edit, not when you submit it. A pending edit is worth nothing yet, and a rejected edit costs you nothing.
How much an approved edit earns depends on the field you changed. Most awards fall into a few bands:
| Kind of change | XP |
|---|---|
| Minor fields and pivot removals | 3 |
| Most standard fields | 10 |
| Substantial fields such as a description | 20 |
| Creating a new entity, such as a story arc | 50 |
There is no bonus for your first edit, and no bonus for branching into a new content type. Every approved edit is worth the value of the field it changed.
Milestone Levels#
Each level needs its level number squared, times ten. Level 10 needs 1,000 XP; Level 20 needs 4,000.
| Level | Title | XP needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bystander | 10 |
| 5 | Enthusiast | 250 |
| 10 | Initiate | 1,000 |
| 15 | Sidekick | 2,250 |
| 20 | Local Hero | 4,000 |
| 25 | Guardian | 6,250 |
| 31 | Hero | 9,610 |
| 50 | Captain | 25,000 |
| 75 | Universal Guardian | 56,250 |
| 100 | The One Above All | 100,000 |
What Levels Unlock#
Reaching Level 5 (Enthusiast) with five approved edits and none rejected unlocks auto-approval for empty fields — filling a previously blank field goes live without waiting for a moderator. Edits that change an existing value always go through moderation regardless of level, as do fields another contributor has already edited.
Moderator and Admin roles aren't tied to XP — they're granted by invitation based on contribution quality and community need.
Tracking Your XP#
Your profile shows your current level, title, total XP, and progress to the next level. Your Submissions page lists every edit with its status (Pending, Approved, Rejected) and how much XP each approved edit earned.
FAQ#
Can I lose XP? No. XP is never deducted, and a rejected edit simply never pays out.
What happens at Level 100? You keep earning XP and maintain your status.
Do I need a minimum level to contribute? No — any registered user with a verified email can submit edits.
