Getting Started with Imports

VerseDB imports your existing collection. Bring it over from League of Comic Geeks, CLZ Comics, ComicRack, or a spreadsheet of your own.

What You Can Import#

VerseDB supports five types of imports:

Import Type What It Does
Collection Comics you own, with grades, prices, and purchase dates
Read Status Your reading history and ratings
Pull List Series you're following for new releases
Wishlist Issues you want to add to your collection
Following Series you want to follow for updates

Note

Not all sources support all import types. See the compatibility table below.

How Imports Work#

Every import follows these steps:

  1. Upload — Pick your import type and source, then upload the file. CSV, XLS, or XLSX, up to 10MB.
  2. Map Headers — Match your file's columns to VerseDB fields. We auto-detect common headers. You can adjust any of them.
  3. Processing — VerseDB reads your file and matches each row to a comic in the database.
  4. Review — Check the matches. Anything we couldn't place, you can search for by series and issue number.
  5. Resolve Conflicts — If you are updating existing items, choose which values to keep.
  6. Import — Confirm, and your data is added.

Tip

Put VerseDB IDs (vdb_id) or ComicVine IDs (cv_id) in your CSV. They match exactly and skip the fuzzy search.

Duplicate Handling#

You choose what happens to items you already have:

  • Skip — leave the existing item alone (default)
  • Update — overwrite it with the imported data. You review any conflicts first.

File Requirements#

  • Formats: CSV, XLS, XLSX
  • Max size: 10 MB
  • Expiration: Import files are deleted after 7 days

Warning

You can only have one active import at a time. Finish or cancel the current one before starting another.
