The Subs are 30th-century teenagers the Legion of Super-Heroes turned down for having powers it judged too limited. Polar Boy, Night Girl, Stone Boy, Fire Lad, and Chlorophyll Kid formed their own team to prove otherwise. They work as an unofficial backup when the Legion is stretched.
