Comic Book Omnibus Editions

An omnibus collects a large run of issues in a single oversized hardcover, often several hundred pages covering multiple arcs, a complete creative run, or years of a title at once. It is the format publishers use to keep major runs permanently available. VerseDB catalogs omnibuses as their own series, separate from the issues they reprint, with their volume lists, page counts, covers, and release dates.

Omnibus FAQ

What is the difference between a TPB and an omnibus?
Length and binding. A trade paperback collects one arc, roughly four to six issues, in softcover. An omnibus collects several hundred pages in hardcover, often an entire creative run.
Do omnibus volumes stay in print?
Not reliably. Publishers reprint the popular ones, but out-of-print volumes often sell well above cover price on the secondary market.
Why is an omnibus filed as a series rather than an issue?
Because omnibus lines are numbered like a run. Filing them as a series keeps volume 1 and volume 2 together, each with its own cover, page count, and release date.
