John Carlinger is not a true Clayface but an impostor who took the name without any powers. A film producer who murdered the original Basil Karlo, he posed as Clayface using makeup to intimidate and eliminate people threatening to audit his company, before Batman exposed the deception. He was later shown among a gathering of former Clayfaces, expressing remorse for his crimes.
