Matter-Eater Lad is Tenzil Kem of Bismoll, a Legionnaire created by Jerry Siegel and John Forte in Adventure Comics #303 in 1962. His people evolved to eat any matter after microbes spoiled ordinary food, so he chews through solids, liquids and gases. He later served a term in the Bismollian senate.
