Uncle Elby is the put-upon bachelor of Clifford McBride's Napoleon and Uncle Elby, a newspaper strip launched in 1932 and modeled on McBride's own uncle. He plays straight man to Napoleon, an enormous clumsy dog, and the strip was reprinted in Famous Funnies.
