Sjors is one half of the Dutch comic Sjors en Sjimmie, adapted from the American strip Winnie Winkle. Frans Piet created the blond Dutch boy in the late 1930s as a gag character, and he became an adventure hero after the war. His friendship with Sjimmie, added in 1949, carried the strip to 1999.
